Takaoka apple harvest begins in Toyama Prefecture
Apple harvesting has commenced in the Kuniyoshi district of Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture. Local farmers report a successful season, describing it as a ‘bumper year’ due to favorable weather conditions.
Approximately 1,000 trees across nine varieties are cultivated in the area. Current harvests include the ‘Ourin’ green apple and the smaller ‘Hime-ringo’. Farmers noted that significant rainfall in August, combined with temperature fluctuations in October, has resulted in larger fruit and better coloring than in previous years.
Following the current varieties, the harvest of the primary ‘Fuji’ apples is expected to begin next month.
