Take Care of America’s Veterans Act seeks Congressional action
The Take Care of America’s Veterans Act (TCAVA) is a legislative proposal aimed at addressing over 60 veteran priorities. The bill has received backing from the American Legion and 22 other veteran organizations.
Key provisions of the act include ending the “wounded veteran tax,” which currently requires nearly 60,000 combat-injured retirees to offset military retirement against VA disability compensation. It also seeks to eliminate the remarriage penalty for surviving spouses, strengthen support for family caregivers, and improve mental health and suicide prevention programs. Additionally, the legislation aims to expand rural and community care and advance treatments for spinal-cord and traumatic brain injuries.
