Take-Two reports high Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders for premium edition

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has reported that pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI are exceeding internal expectations. Notably, demand is skewing toward the $99.99 Ultimate Edition rather than the $79.99 standard version. Zelnick suggested this trend may reflect the high engagement of early adopters and most dedicated fans who are willing to pay a premium for exclusive content, such as additional vehicles, outfits, and in-game locations.

Regarding pricing, Zelnick stated that Take-Two intends to maintain the official price of the title, noting that any potential discounts would be at the discretion of individual retailers. He referenced the long-term price stability of Grand Theft Auto V as a precedent.

As part of a major marketing campaign, an extended look at the game is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on August 27. While the initial viewing will be exclusive to Netflix subscribers, the footage will be released on YouTube six hours later. Zelnick described the Netflix collaboration as a first-of-its-kind partnership aimed at reaching a broader audience. Despite the partnership, Zelnick emphasized Take-Two's commitment to remaining an independent company, rejecting any speculation regarding a potential acquisition by Netflix.
