Take-Two issues subpoenas to identify GTA 6 leaker CyberLeek

Take-Two Interactive has initiated legal action to identify the individual or group known as ‘CyberLeek’ following a series of high-profile leaks of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay and assets. The publisher has obtained federal court authorization in New York to issue DMCA subpoenas to Microsoft and Discord. These subpoenas seek user identification data, including IP addresses, email addresses, and device identifiers, to trace the origin of the leaked content.

The leaker, CyberLeek, has reportedly used the leaks to protest industry practices such as digital-only releases and high pricing, while also promoting a related cryptocurrency memecoin. CyberLeek has further threatened a ‘dead man’s switch,’ claiming that a playable build of the game will be automatically released globally if they are caught or fail to check in every 24 hours.

While some leaked footage has been identified as potentially genuine, security researchers have also warned of a surge in malware disguised as GTA 6 downloads on piracy sites. Despite the security breaches, Rockstar Games is still on track for the official release of GTA 6 on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
