Takeda Manufacturing Italia faces legal action over alleged anti-union conduct

Labor unions Filctem-Cgil and Nidil-Cgil Pisa have announced legal action against Takeda Manufacturing Italia for alleged anti-union conduct at its facility in Pisa. The unions have authorized legal counsel to file a complaint under Article 28 of the Workers' Statute.

The dispute follows a communication from the company on August 7, in which Takeda reportedly threatened to deduct an entire day's pay from employees who participated in a one-hour strike at the end of their shift. The company cited a purported total economic loss of eight hours. Unions describe this move as an intimidating tactic designed to infringe upon the right to strike and create a climate of uncertainty among workers.

In addition to the pay dispute, the mobilization is driven by concerns regarding the termination of 67 leasing staff contracts and a lack of transparency regarding employment stability and protections for direct employees at the site.
