Takefusa Kubo ends 302-day goal drought with Real Sociedad
Takefusa Kubo has ended a 302-day scoring drought, recording one goal and one assist in Real Sociedad’s 5-2 victory against Malaga. This performance marks his first goal since December of last year and follows a period of struggle where he faced concerns regarding his form and the lingering physical and mental effects of a knee injury sustained during the FIFA World Cup.
Kubo credited his success in the match to the tactical support of teammate Hector Fort. The two players, both products of Barcelona’s La Masia academy, demonstrated strong chemistry on the right flank. Kubo noted that Fort’s overlapping runs created 2-on-2 situations that allowed him to find opportunities to cut inside.
Following his return to form, Kubo expressed gratitude for his recent time with the Japanese national team, noting that the international break helped him prepare for his club responsibilities.
