Takehiro Saeki expands Christmas Advent initiative from Fukuoka to Tokyo

Takehiro Saeki, CEO of Saeki Japan Co., Ltd., is working to transform seasonal celebrations into a lasting cultural phenomenon through the ‘Christmas Advent’ initiative. Originally launched in 2013 as the Fukuoka Christmas Market near Hakata Station, the event has expanded across Fukuoka and is scheduled to expand to Ueno, Tokyo, in 2025.

Unlike traditional markets, Christmas Advent aims to integrate light, sound, and art to create a comprehensive sensory experience. Saeki, inspired by the freedom and atmosphere of German Christmas markets, seeks to provide a space where families, couples, and friends can enjoy the season in their own way. The initiative is part of a broader effort toward regional revitalization and urban development.
