Takehiro Tomiyasu linked with Torino FC as transfer talks begin

Italian Serie A club Torino FC has opened formal negotiations with the agent of Japanese international defender Takehiro Tomiyasu. The 27‑year‑old centre‑back became a free agent after his contract with Ajax expired and is being considered by Torino to strengthen its defence.

Earlier reports indicated that Venezia FC had also been in contact with Tomiyasu, but the club withdrew after filling its non‑EU quota. While Tomiyasu has expressed a desire to play in the English Premier League, Torino – a club founded in 1906 and sponsored by Japan’s Suzuki – has emerged as a leading candidate in the transfer race.

Tomiyasu previously played in Serie A for Bologna, appearing in 60 matches, before moving to Arsenal and later returning to the Netherlands with Ajax. His next move will be decided in the coming weeks as clubs assess offers and his personal preferences.
