Takehiro Tomiyasu to miss Japan national team duty due to injury
Japan national team defender Takehiro Tomiyasu will miss the upcoming September and October international fixtures due to a calf injury. The Crystal Palace player sustained the injury during a Premier League match against Leeds United on September 20.
During the match, which ended in a 0-0 draw, Tomiyasu requested to be substituted at halftime. Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage noted that while the injury does not appear to be serious, it was not advisable for the player to continue playing. Tomiyasu's teammate, Daichi Kamata, also featured in the match and was noted by media for missing a scoring opportunity before joining the national team camp.
The Japan Football Association (JFA) confirmed Tomiyasu's absence from the upcoming series, which includes matches against Uruguay, Venezuela, Ecuador, and either Panama or New Zealand. No replacement has been named at this time.
