Takeru and wife Aoi Kawaguchi star in new Matsui Shuzo commercial

Matsui Shuzo has announced a new television commercial for its Tottori Beer series, featuring professional fighter Takeru and his wife, actress Aoi Kawaguchi. The campaign, titled ‘Takeru Finally Drinks,’ is scheduled to begin airing on September 15, 2026, across three terrestrial stations in the San'in region, covering Tottori and Shimane prefectures.

The commercial marks a narrative shift for Takeru, who has appeared in four previous Matsui Shuzo advertisements. In those earlier spots, he maintained a strict lifestyle as an active athlete, stating, ‘I will drink once I retire.’ Following his retirement from combat sports, this new campaign features his first official ‘lifting of the alcohol ban,’ where he expresses genuine enjoyment of the beer.

This advertisement also marks the first time the couple has appeared together in a commercial. The Tottori Beer series is a canned beer product exclusive to Tottori Prefecture, designed as a food-pairing beverage that emphasizes balance and simple ingredients to complement meals.
