Takuma Inoue retains WBC bantamweight title against Tenshin Nasukawa

Takuma Inoue successfully defended his WBC bantamweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Tenshin Nasukawa in their highly anticipated rematch at the Toyota Arena in Tokyo. The bout was marked by high drama in the seventh round when Nasukawa landed a powerful left hand that sent Inoue to the canvas. Despite the knockdown, Inoue regained composure and utilized his jab and straight right hands to control the distance and tempo for the remainder of the twelve rounds.

The judges' scorecards favored Inoue with totals of 116-111, 116-111, and 114-113. This victory brings Inoue’s professional record to 23-2, while Nasukawa falls to 8-2. Following the match, Inoue expressed his desire to pursue title unification in 2027, targeting potential opponents such as Jose Reyes or Christian Medina.

On the same card, Mexican boxer Russell Acosta Silveira challenged Ryusei Matsumoto for the WBO interim minimumweight title. Although Acosta delivered a strong performance, Matsumoto secured the victory via unanimous decision (115-113, 116-112, 118-110).
