Takumi Ueshima receives red card in Avispa Fukuoka vs Sanfrecce Hiroshima match

Avispa Fukuoka defender Takumi Ueshima was sent off with a red card during a J1 League match against Sanfrecce Hiroshima on September 19. The incident occurred in the 21st minute near the center circle when Ueshima performed a sliding tackle on Hiroshima midfielder Yasushi Matsumoto.

While the referee initially issued a yellow card, a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) intervention led to an on-field review, resulting in the red card. Former J-League referee Masaaki Iemoto commented on the decision, noting that challenges lacking sufficient care for an opponent's safety can result in a dismissal, even if the player is attempting to play the ball.
