Takyi Arhin apologizes to André Ayew and Paga residents
Aduana FC General Manager Takyi Arhin has issued an unconditional apology to Ghanaian footballer André Ayew and the residents of Paga following controversial remarks. Arhin had previously suggested that Ayew, amid speculation regarding a potential bid for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidency, should instead invest in goat farming in his hometown of Paga.
The apology follows pressure from the Paga Youth Movement (PAYOM), which described the comments as “offensive, demeaning and unacceptable.” The group argued that the remark disparaged the Paga community and risked reinforcing stereotypes that Northern Ghana is primarily suited for livestock production rather than national leadership roles.
In his apology, Arhin stated, “I write to offer my sincere and unconditional apology to André Ayew for the comment. I do not intend to offer any explanation, but I apologise profusely. It was simply an unfortunate moment.” He further expressed his respect for Ayew and his family’s commitment to Ghanaian football and extended his apologies to the people of Paga.
