Talat Gaši predicts no early elections in North Macedonia

North Macedonian parliamentary speaker Talat Gaši has expressed his conviction that early elections will not take place, asserting that the current government and assembly will serve their full mandate until 2028. Gaši based this assessment on his political intuition and recent public statements.

The debate over early elections has persisted throughout the summer. Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski previously indicated a readiness to face the public if requested by the opposition, specifically mentioning the SDSM and DUI parties. While the party of Ahmeti has accepted the challenge, other political figures have offered differing stances.

Discussions regarding the electoral code remain stalled in working groups, with key issues involving diaspora voting and ballot marking procedures. Mickoski has stated that the government is prepared to find a solution once the opposition parties—SDSM, Levica, and DUI—reach a unified position.
