Talavera de la Reina begins refunds for duplicate waste tax charges

The Talavera de la Reina City Council has begun returning funds to citizens after a computer error caused duplicate charges for waste tax on direct debit payments. Government spokesperson Jesús García-Barroso stated that the municipal Treasury is managing the corrections directly.

The timeline for funds to appear in bank accounts varies by financial institution. While some banks, such as CaixaBank, processed payments automatically, others may require 24 to 48 hours to reflect the transactions. Officials emphasized that affected citizens do not need to file formal claims or requests for refunds, as the council is handling the process to rectify the error.
