Talbot Fire reaches 15% containment in Tahoe National Forest

The Talbot Fire, burning in the Tahoe National Forest west of Lake Tahoe, has reached 15% containment as of Thursday. The blaze, mapped at approximately 75.2 acres, is burning in heavy timber northeast of the French Meadows Reservoir.

Fire behavior moderated overnight, enabling crews to establish bulldozer lines along the left and right flanks. While the fire's most active edge continues to push northeast toward the Granite Chief Wilderness, firefighting resources remain heavily deployed in the area.

All campgrounds and recreation sites in the French Meadows area have been evacuated due to safety concerns and the high concentration of emergency personnel. Additionally, the Placer County Sheriff's Office has issued an evacuation warning for portions of the national forest along French Meadows Road, including the Cedars community. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
