Talca launches $500 million urban planning update

The municipality of Talca has officially launched the update of its Communal Regulatory Plan (PRC), a major territorial planning process expected to last approximately three years. The initiative involves a municipal investment of nearly $500 million, which was approved by the Municipal Council on May 19.

The project aims to guide the city's urban growth to meet current needs and future challenges. Key focus areas include the regeneration of the historic center, improved connectivity, sustainable mobility, the creation of urban parks, and the promotion of mixed land use. The plan also seeks to foster equity between neighborhoods and ensure a more balanced distribution of services and equipment.

Mayor Juan Carlos Díaz emphasized the importance of community participation to ensure the legitimacy of the new urban vision. The process will begin with a phase of territorial analysis and study, followed by the development of an objective vision for the city that incorporates resident feedback, leading to the drafting and approval of the new regulatory instrument.
