Talcahuano homicide: 71-year-old man arrested for axe attack

A 71-year-old man has been detained in Talcahuano, Biobío Region, following the discovery of human remains in a wooded area near Caleta El Soldado. The victim, a 67-year-old man who had been missing for several days, was reportedly killed with an axe.

According to investigations by the PDI (Policía de Investigaciones) and the Biobío Flagrancy Prosecutor's Office, the victim went to the suspect's home, where a dispute occurred. The suspect allegedly struck the victim in the head with an axe, causing death at the scene, and subsequently hid the body in a nearby forested area.

Detectives from the Concepción Homicide Brigade found hematological evidence inside the suspect's residence, which helped establish his involvement after inconsistencies were noted in his initial statements. The suspect has been placed at the disposal of the Talcahuano Guarantee Court.
