Talisay City launches inaugural TaliSine Short Film Festival

Talisay City in Negros Occidental has launched its inaugural TaliSine Short Film Festival, a new platform designed to support student filmmaking and local storytelling. The festival officially commenced on August 17 with the program ‘Pamukaw: Handuraw sang Kultura kag Istorya’ at Don Simplicio Lizares National High School.

Organized by the Department of Education Schools Division Office and the TaliSine Festival Organizing Committee in partnership with the Talisay City government, the event features nine student films. These works explore themes of family, identity, culture, resilience, and youth experiences. Rather than using a single venue, the festival operates as a citywide caravan from August 17 to 24, utilizing local high school spaces as temporary cinemas for morning and afternoon sessions.

Festival Director Jonathan Jurilla expressed motivation to establish the event as an annual tradition, noting the positive response to seeing inexperienced students produce and share their own stories.
