Tall Tales & Murder drama announced by RTÉ and BBC

RTÉ and BBC Northern Ireland have announced the upcoming dark comedic drama series ‘Tall Tales & Murder’. Co-created by Stuart Carolan, known for ‘Love/Hate’, and ‘Veep’ director Chris Addison, the six-part series is based on Caimh McDonnell’s ‘Dublin Trilogy’.

The production is a co-commission in association with Screen Ireland and produced by Avalon and Metropolitan Pictures. The plot follows Bridget, an unconventional night-shift nurse played by Ella Lily Hyland, and Paul, a young man played by Casey Walsh who is attempting to escape a life of car theft. The narrative is described as a ‘Bonnie and Clyde-style adventure’ that blends modern crime elements—including corrupt police and underworld fixers—with an 8th-century tale involving Vikings and a priceless holy book.

The series stars Aidan Gillen, Casey Walsh, Philippa Dunne, and Brian Doherty. It is expected to broadcast on BBC One and BBC One Northern Ireland this fall, with RTÉ also including it in its upcoming schedule.
