Tallapragada Mallikarjuna Rao sworn in as Andhra Pradesh Lokayukta
Tallapragada Mallikarjuna Rao, a former judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, has been sworn in as the Lokayukta of Andhra Pradesh. The oath of office was administered by Governor S. Abdul Nazeer during a ceremony at Lok Bhavan.
Mr. Rao’s appointment follows a recommendation from a selection committee led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. His five-year term began upon his appointment, as per a government order issued by Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad. The appointment was made under the provisions of the AP Lokayukta Act, 1983, as amended in 2024.
The filling of this position follows legal proceedings and public interest litigations seeking to address vacancies in various state commissions, including the Andhra Pradesh Human Rights Commission and the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission.
