Tallink Group charters ferry Romantika to Italy for 2026 Mediterranean Games
Tallink Group and the organizing committee of the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto signed a charter agreement for the cruise ferry Romantika. The ship will be deployed to Italy to provide accommodation and meals for participants in the 20th edition of the Games. Romantika, built in Finland in 2002, made its final Baltic Sea sailing on 4 August before heading to Italy. Passengers with bookings after that date are being re‑booked onto other Tallink vessels such as Baltic Queen, Silja Symphony and Silja Serenade. Tallink chairman Peep Jalakas said the flexible traffic arrangement allows customers to choose among several alternative departures and that the charter will positively affect Tallink’s financial result. The company also noted that three other vessels are under long‑term charters: Silja Europa and Galaxy in the Netherlands and Superfast IX (now St Patrick) operating for Hibernia Line between Ireland and France.
