Tallinn to invest €3.5 million in Mustamäe infrastructure renewal

Tallinn is set to begin a comprehensive renewal of public spaces and infrastructure in the second microdistrict of the Mustamäe residential area. The project, estimated to cost approximately €3.5 million, is scheduled to commence on September 14, 2026, with an expected completion date in December 2027.

The initiative involves more than just resurfacing roads. The city plans to reorganize internal traffic routes by creating dedicated paths for pedestrians and cyclists, formalizing parking areas, and improving street lighting, landscaping, and street furniture. The goal is to enhance safety and usability for residents moving between homes, shops, and transit stops.

A significant portion of the project focuses on underground technical infrastructure. This includes upgrading district heating pipes, stormwater drainage, and water and wastewater networks. By coordinating surface improvements with utility upgrades, the city aims to modernize the neighborhood's essential services and transport networks simultaneously.
