Tamagotchi and Kanji Kentei launch educational collaboration

The Japan Kanji Aptitude Testing Foundation has released a special collaboration project titled ‘Tamagotchi Kanji Kentei’. This initiative features original educational printouts designed to help students learn kanji through the world of Bandai’s Tamagotchi.

The collaboration draws a parallel between the way Tamagotchi characters evolve through different combinations of care and the way kanji characters are constructed using various components like radicals. The educational materials cover kanji levels ranging from 10th grade (equivalent to the end of first grade in elementary school) to 5th grade (equivalent to the end of sixth grade).

These printouts include writing exercises featuring characters from the ‘Neon Planets’ series and trivia regarding kanji structures. The materials are available for download on the foundation’s website and will be distributed for free to schools and educational organizations across Japan. Physical copies are also available at the Kanji Museum in Kyoto.
