Tamale Metropolitan Assembly distributes 10,000 bags of fertiliser

The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly (TaMA) has distributed 10,000 bags of fertiliser to local farmers to bolster agricultural production and food security. The distribution includes 9,000 50-kilogramme bags of NPK fertiliser and 1,000 bags of urea.

Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive Adam Abubakari Takoro announced the initiative during a sessional address, emphasizing agriculture as a vital driver of the local and national economy. He noted the importance of making the sector more attractive to younger generations through sustained investment.

Additional agricultural and environmental initiatives include:

• An aquaculture pilot project under the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, providing training and support for 40 individuals to establish fish farms.

• The Nkokonkiti initiative, which will soon distribute poultry to households.

• Environmental resilience efforts, including a target to plant 150,000 trees under the ‘Tree for Life’ initiative and the ‘Shade Dagbang Project’ to increase street-side tree cover in collaboration with the Dibeni Premier Group.
