Tamara Klink becomes youngest woman to solo traverse Northwest Passage

Sailor Tamara Klink has become the youngest woman and the first Latin American to successfully complete a solo crossing of the Northwest Passage. She concluded the journey, one of the most challenging routes in the Arctic, on September 21, 2025, at the age of 28.

Klink noted that the route has changed significantly due to global warming. While the passage was once traversed on foot over frozen seas or by large icebreakers, the reduction in sea ice allowed her to complete the journey in a small sailboat.

Klink is scheduled to speak in Brasília on December 2 at the Ulysses Convention Center as part of the Metrópoles Talks series, where she will discuss the challenges and lessons learned from her journey through the icy waters.
