Tamara Zidanšek advances in US Open qualifying
Slovenian tennis player Tamara Zidanšek has advanced to the final round of qualifying for the US Open in New York after defeating former champion Bianca Andreescu. Zidanšek secured the victory with a score of 2-6, 6-3, and 6-4 in a match that included delays due to rain.
In contrast, Slovak tennis faces a historic milestone as no Slovak women will compete in the main draw of the US Open for the first time since the country's independence in 1993. Both Rebecca Šramková and Viktória Hrunčáková failed to qualify, ending a continuous 33-year streak of Slovak female representation in the tournament's main singles competition.
