Tamaulipas approves reform to prevent unauthorized parking reservations

The Permanent Deputation of the Tamaulipas Congress has approved a reform to Article 56 of the state Traffic Law to combat the unauthorized reservation of public parking spaces.

Under the new regulations, transit authorities are empowered to remove any objects—such as cones, chairs, boxes, or bins—placed to obstruct or reserve street parking without official permission. Authorities will also issue warnings to individuals identified as responsible for such actions. The reform specifically mandates the protection of garage spaces and designated parking for persons with disabilities to improve mobility and ensure the equitable use of public spaces.
