Tamaulipas athletes win two bronze medals at Central American and Caribbean Games

Yaneth Quiroz and Diego Popa, representing the Mexican delegation, each secured a bronze medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Quiroz earned the medal in the team karate event after Mexico defeated El Salvador 5‑0 for third place, while Popa was part of the K4 500‑metre canoe crew that also finished third.

The achievements were highlighted by Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, who praised the athletes for their discipline and said they set an example for future generations. Manuel Virués Lozano, director of the Instituto del Deporte de Tamaulipas, noted that the results strengthen the state’s presence in high‑performance sport. The Games had previously seen another Tamaulipas athlete, Kimberly Salazar, win three gold medals in rhythmic gymnastics.
