Tamaulipas authorities arrest suspects in extortion and kidnapping cases
Authorities in Tamaulipas have reported significant progress in combating organized crime through the investigation of extortion and kidnapping cases.
The Fiscalía General de Justicia de Tamaulipas successfully clarified four cases of aggravated extortion in Reynosa and Ciudad Victoria. This resulted in the in flagrante apprehension of six suspects. Officials noted that timely reports from business owners and service providers have been critical to these arrests.
In a separate incident involving police corruption, Juan Ignacio 'N', an officer from the Tamaulipas State Public Security Secretariat, was arrested in Altamira. He is accused of participating in a kidnapping that occurred in Reynosa, where suspects allegedly used an official patrol vehicle to transport a victim and demanded a 500,000 peso ransom. Three other officers are already undergoing criminal proceedings in connection with the case.
