Tamaulipas authorities close eight aesthetic clinics

Eight aesthetic surgery clinics in Tamaulipas have been closed by state authorities due to sanitary irregularities and risky medical practices. Mario Rebolledo Urcádiz, head of the State Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks (COEPRIS), stated that these closures are part of a permanent strategy to prevent health risks associated with reconstructive and aesthetic procedures.

Authorities prioritize different sanitary risks based on the region. In the border areas, aesthetic clinics are a primary focus of surveillance, whereas in the southern part of the state, efforts are concentrated on dengue and water-related diseases.

Of the 178 private hospitals in Tamaulipas, COEPRIS conducts regular inspections to ensure equipment and personnel meet legal requirements. The commission noted that there are approximately 40 certified specialists in plastic and reconstructive surgery in the state. Patients are encouraged to consult COEPRIS to verify the certification and authorization of any medical professional before undergoing surgery.
