Tamaulipas authorities implement social welfare programs for vulnerable families

Various social welfare initiatives are being implemented across Tamaulipas, Mexico, to support vulnerable populations through food, water, and health services.

In Ciudad Madero, Mayor Erasmo González Robledo led the ‘Gobierno En Tu Colonia’ program, distributing over 2,800 food items, including poultry, groceries, and bread. The initiative also provided mobile municipal services such as medical check-ups, vaccinations, and administrative assistance directly within neighborhoods.

At the state level, the Tamaulipas DIF, led by María de Villarreal, is executing a large-scale food distribution campaign. Between September 1 and 17, the agency aims to deliver 63,450 food baskets across 43 municipalities. The program targets elderly citizens, people with disabilities, indigenous populations, and children in high-marginalization areas to combat malnutrition.

In Tampico, Mayor Mónica Villarreal Anaya’s administration has distributed water storage tanks (tinacos) to families in priority sectors, such as the Solidaridad, Voluntad y Trabajo neighborhood, to assist with water management and household needs.
