Tamaulipas boosts migrant support and receives organ donation recognition

The government of Tamaulipas inaugurated a regional office of the Instituto Tamaulipeco para los Migrantes in El Mante. Director Juan José Rodríguez Alvarado said the office will provide assistance on family reunification, dual nationality for children born in the United States, U.S. passport processing, migration regularisation, refugee status, social programmes and other services for migrants and their families. The opening was attended by Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, municipal president Martha Patricia Chío de la Garza and other local officials.

In a separate ceremony, the state health secretariat was presented with a national award from the Centro Nacional de Trasplantes (CENATRA) for its organ and tissue donation programme. Secretary Adriana Marcela Hernández Campos received the recognition on behalf of Governor Villarreal. The award highlighted the state's 21 organ donations, 56 procurements, four transplants and more than 100 voluntary donors recorded this year, as well as ongoing awareness campaigns in schools and medical centres.
