Tamaulipas citizens march to demand release of Octavio Leal Moncada

Thousands of supporters of the civil organization Columna Cívica “Pedro J. Méndez” marched through the state of Tamaulipas to demand the release of their leader, Octavio Leal Moncada.

The mobilization began in the community of Ursulo Galván in the municipality of Hidalgo, with participants advancing toward Barretal in the municipality of Padilla. Protesters used various means of transport, including walking, cars, motorcycles, and horses, carrying banners expressing support for Leal Moncada.

Leal Moncada was detained on June 28 in Santiago, Nuevo León, by elements of the federal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) in compliance with an arrest warrant. The march included the presence of various municipal authorities from the region, including mayors from Padilla, Hidalgo, Villagrán, Mainero, and San Carlos.
