Global leadership changes in military, environmental, and academic sectors

Various regional and national leadership changes have occurred across several countries. In Colombia, Brigadier General Jorge Mario Aguirre Martínez has assumed command of the Eighteenth Brigade in Arauca, overseeing more than 5,000 personnel. Additionally, in Arauca, local authorities are working to strengthen peace processes and housing solutions for former peace signatories.

In Guatemala, Edwin José Castellanos has been appointed as the new Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, replacing Patricia Orantes, who is returning to Congress. Meanwhile, in Colombia, journalist Carolina Gómez has declined a role as a government spokesperson for President Abelardo de la Espriella, opting instead to evaluate a different proposal.

In Spain, Maria Àngels Francés has taken office as the president of the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua for a five-year term. In Mexico, the National Electoral Institute (INE) appointed four new counselors for the Michoacán Electoral Institute but failed to elect a president after a candidate did not receive the required majority of votes.
