Tamaulipas Education Secretary oversees school infrastructure and health programs
Miguel Ángel Valdez García, the Secretary of Education for Tamaulipas, is leading initiatives focused on school infrastructure improvements and student wellness across the state's border region.
Under the federal program ‘Vive Saludable, Vive Feliz’, teacher training has been intensified in municipalities including Matamoros and Nuevo Laredo. The program aims to promote healthy eating habits, physical exercise, and nutritional knowledge among primary school students. This follows diagnostic assessments that identified a need for specialized attention in visual and oral health.
Simultaneously, the Secretary is supervising infrastructure repairs conducted by the Instituto Tamaulipeco de Infraestructura Física Educativa (ITIFE). In Reynosa, projects include replacing a transformer at Escuela Secundaria General 11 Siglo XXI and major structural renovations at Escuela Primaria Gral. Emiliano Zapata, involving the reconstruction of building slabs and electrical upgrades. In other instances, state resources are being redirected to meet specific school needs through coordination with municipal governments.
