Tamaulipas electoral registry opens early voter registration for youth
The Federal Electoral Registry (RFE) in Tamaulipas has announced that 17-year-olds who will turn 18 by June 6, 2027, may apply for their voter identification credentials in advance. This initiative is part of the current Intense Annual Campaign aimed at ensuring young citizens are eligible to participate in the upcoming 2027 elections.
The registration period for these early applications runs from September 1, 2026, through January 25, 2027. Following this window, a period for replacing lost credentials will take place between January 26 and February 8, 2027, followed by a reprinting phase starting February 9. The deadline for the delivery of all processed credentials is March 15, 2027.
José de Jesús Arredondo Cortés, the RFE vocal for Tamaulipas, noted that the state's electoral roll currently includes approximately 2,985,000 citizens, with a nominal list coverage of 98%. He emphasized that the process is vital for guaranteeing voting rights for the youth demographic.
