Tamaulipas expands investment ties with the EU and Spain

Mexico’s Tamaulipas state deepened its economic outreach to Europe as Secretary of Economy Ninfa Cantú Deándar met with the European Union ambassador, Francisco André, and later with Spain’s ambassador, Juan Duarte Cuadrado. In the EU meeting Cantú highlighted the state’s competitive advantages in chemicals‑petrochemicals, automotive, and electric‑electronic sectors, and presented key infrastructure projects such as the North Port in Matamoros, the Altamira development hub, and the Ciudad Victoria inland port. The Spanish meeting focused on cooperation in agro‑industrial and agro‑food clusters, water‑management, sustainability, circular‑economy initiatives and technology transfer, aiming to build a joint agenda for investment, trade and innovation.

Both meetings underscored Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya’s vision of shared prosperity through international collaboration, with plans for follow‑up visits and concrete project development to attract European capital and expertise to Tamaulipas.
