Tamaulipas expands ride‑hailing inspections amid microbus route complaints

The Tamaulipas state government continues inspections of vehicles that operate through digital platforms such as Uber and Didi. Subsecretary of Public Transport Armando Núñez Montelongo said the checks will remain in municipalities where the regularisation process is still underway, notably in the southern part of the state and in Reynosa. Fines for non‑compliant operators were reduced from 100 to 20 UMAs to encourage legalisation and to ensure passengers can verify that drivers and vehicles are properly registered.

In Ciudad Victoria, residents of the Pedro Sosa neighbourhood have appealed to the Subsecretariat of Public Transport to restore a microbus line that was discontinued during the COVID‑19 pandemic. Community leader Jesús Sotelo Ruiz reported that the loss of the route forces hundreds of families, especially seniors, students and workers, to walk long distances or rely on app‑based rides. A petition with around 200 signatures has been submitted but no response has been received yet.
