Tamaulipas launches rural student field trips under “Educación en Movimiento” program

The Tamaulipas State Education Secretariat (SET) has rolled out the “Educación en Movimiento: Conoce, Aprende y Transforma” program, bringing elementary and secondary students from rural schools to major cultural, scientific and historic sites across the state. Participants visited the Natural History Museum of Tamaulipas (TAMUX), the state government palace and the Tamatán Zoo, among other venues, to expand their knowledge and develop critical thinking, scientific curiosity and civic pride.

The initiative, coordinated by the Compensatory Programs Unit and backed by Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, aims to reduce educational inequities, promote inclusion and strengthen school community ties. SET officials said the outings complement formal curricula with experiential learning, foster a sense of belonging, and support the state’s broader goal of narrowing the gap between urban and rural educational opportunities.
