Tamaulipas government to turn paper waste into school supplies

The state of Tamaulipas launched a circular‑economy program to recycle around 25 tonnes of paper collected from judicial offices in Ciudad Victoria, Altamira and El Mante. The paper will be processed by a specialized recycler, which will return educational furniture, materials and equipment – including air‑conditioning units – to public schools.

SEDUMA secretary Karl Heinz Becker Hernández said the initiative seeks to give discarded documents a new value, reducing waste costs while strengthening school infrastructure and supporting environmental goals. The effort aligns with Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya’s policy of linking waste management to social benefits.
