Tamaulipas Governor reports four-year progress and major investments
Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya has presented a four-year progress report for the state of Tamaulipas, highlighting significant investments in social welfare, infrastructure, and security.
In Río Bravo, a joint investment from the state and federal governments exceeding 3.6 billion pesos has been allocated to sectors including education, agriculture, and security. This includes over 314 million pesos for local public works and the installation of 'Estaciones Seguras' to bolster border surveillance. The agricultural sector is receiving support through the modernization of irrigation districts 025 and 026.
Social programs have seen extensive reach, with the Sistema DIF Tamaulipas reporting the delivery of 98.8 million school breakfasts and the Lazos del Bienestar program benefiting 247,000 people. Additionally, the state reported a reduction in poverty rates from 26.8% to 20.2% during the 2022-2025 period, alongside a reduction in public debt by over 1 billion pesos.
Tourism also remains a priority, with 349.2 million pesos earmarked for 46 infrastructure projects in 2026 to build on a record-breaking year that saw 17.4 million visitors and an economic impact of over 16 billion pesos.
