Tamaulipas health secretary Ricardo Guerrero Morales pledges anti‑corruption reforms

Ricardo Guerrero Morales, newly appointed secretary of health for the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, has ordered an immediate overhaul of the health ministry's procurement and administrative processes. He warned staff to either fulfill their duties or resign, insisting that no documents will be delayed or rejected, and that corruption and waste will not be tolerated. Guerrero Morales, previously director of the General Hospital Victoria and sub‑secretary of health, will work closely with Horacio Maldonado Ibarra, director of material resources, to accelerate the delivery of federal funds to state hospitals and resolve long‑standing supply shortages.

Hospital directors have welcomed the changes, expecting faster access to resources and an end to the administrative disorder that plagued the sector. The reforms are also linked to broader regional initiatives, with the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas collaborating with government and private industry to boost competitiveness and train specialized talent.

The measures aim to improve service quality across Tamaulipas health facilities and restore confidence in the public health system.
