Tamaulipas health officials report surge in bee stings in 2026

Public health authorities in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas have recorded a sharp increase in bee‑sting incidents during 2026. The federal Health Secretariat’s epidemiological bulletin notes 200 people affected by bee stings, with 126 men and 74 women, coinciding with the peak flowering and pollination season. The report also mentions 40 wasp‑sting cases and 94 other arthropod bites. In addition, 201 cases of poisoning from other venomous animals and 174 scorpion‑sting incidents have been logged.

Officials advise the public to avoid handling hives, take precautions in vegetated areas, and seek immediate medical care if a severe reaction occurs.
