Tamaulipas hosts exhibition on children's experiences with migration
The Government of Tamaulipas, through the Tamaulipas Institute for Migrants (ITM), has launched an exhibition at the Center for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology (CIESAS) Northeast. The showcase features 142 drawings created by children and adolescents from Tamaulipas who have links to migration.
The artwork reflects personal feelings and perceptions regarding family separation, distance, and emotional bonds maintained across borders. It also addresses the risks and various forms of violence present in their environments.
Juan José Rodríguez Alvarado, director general of the ITM, emphasized the importance of listening to these young voices to build institutional responses that guarantee their rights and protection. The initiative is a collaborative effort involving the ITM, CIESAS Northeast, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and UNICEF Mexico.
