Tamaulipas hosts national finance chiefs meeting to shape fiscal policy

The city of Tampico in Tamaulipas served as the venue for the CCCLXX meeting of Mexico’s Permanent Commission of Fiscal Officials. Finance secretaries from all 32 states attended, along with senior officials from the federal Treasury Department (SHCP), the Tax Administration Service (SAT) and the Customs Agency (ANAM). The gathering reviewed coordination of public finances, tax collection, budget distribution and mechanisms for responding to emergencies and natural disasters.

A Forum on Integrated Risk Management was held, featuring experts from the Treasury, the National Center for Disaster Prevention (Cenapred), Agroasemex and the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions, to discuss protecting fiscal resources against natural hazards. Tamaulipas Finance Secretary Carlos Irán Ramírez González said the event reflects institutional confidence in the state and aims to use public finances as a tool for economic development and family welfare. The meeting marks the first time in more than two decades that Tamaulipas has hosted such a high‑level fiscal forum, aligning with Governor Américo Villarreal’s focus on fiscal discipline and financial strengthening in the state.
