Tamaulipas implements dual nationality certificates and electoral security measures
The Tamaulipas Migrant Institute (ITM) has delivered 115 dual nationality certificates to children and adolescents born in the United States to parents from Tamaulipas. This initiative aims to facilitate the recognition of Mexican nationality, providing legal certainty and expanding access to rights, services, and educational opportunities for binational youth. Officials estimate that approximately 30,000 children in the region face similar binational circumstances.
Separately, in Ciudad Victoria, CINVESTAV Tamaulipas has implemented advanced IT security and identification controls for examinations held by 1,477 applicants seeking to join Tamaulipas electoral councils. The technological platform includes authentication procedures to verify identities and is designed to resist cyberattacks and unauthorized information searches. These evaluations are part of the selection process for municipal and district electoral bodies ahead of the 2027 local elections.
