IETAM advances 1,477 candidates for electoral council evaluations

The Electoral Institute of Tamaulipas (IETAM) has moved 1,477 applicants forward to the evaluation stage for district and municipal council positions. This process is part of the selection for the 65 electoral bodies that will organize the local elections scheduled for June 6, 2027.

During a recent session, the IETAM General Council approved the modification of participant lists after 214 applicants were excluded for failing to meet constitutional, legal, or documentary requirements. The remaining candidates will undergo a digital knowledge exam on October 16 and 17, administered by the Center for Research and Advanced Studies (Cinvestav).

The evaluation will take place across six locations: Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa, Matamoros, Ciudad Victoria, Mante, and the southern zone (Tampico, Ciudad Madero, and Altamira). Among those advancing, 473 individuals were registered through social inclusion mechanisms, including 326 young people, 94 older adults, 36 people from sexual diversity, and 17 people with disabilities.
