Tamaulipas Institute for Migrants strengthens support in El Mante
The Tamaulipas Institute for Migrants (ITM) held a meeting in El Mante to provide guidance and institutional support to families with migratory ties. The initiative aims to ensure that Tamaulipas residents with connections to the United States have access to reliable information regarding their rights and available programs.
A key component of the event was the presentation of the ‘Cartilla de Derechos para la Diáspora Tamaulipeca en Estados Unidos’, developed in collaboration with the Senate of the Republic. This guide offers practical advice for navigating various migratory situations, such as interactions with immigration authorities, potential detentions, and legal considerations for children born on U.S. territory.
Additionally, the ITM has begun assisting with the cancellation of duplicate birth certificates for individuals born in the United States who were also registered in Mexico during childhood. The institute also addressed topics such as dual nationality and student scholarships to better serve the migrant community.
