Federal Delegate Urges Proper Use of FAIS Funds in Tamaulipas Municipalities

Luis Lauro Reyes Rodríguez, the federal delegate for programs in Tamaulipas, announced that the state will receive 1.591 billion pesos from the Fondo de Aportaciones a la Infraestructura Social (FAIS). The funds are earmarked for drinking‑water supply, sewage, rural roads and electrification projects in vulnerable communities. Distribution will cover all 43 municipalities, with urban areas allotted between 50 and 100 million pesos each and rural areas receiving 10 to 20 million pesos.

To ensure the money is spent correctly, the federal government is conducting training sessions for mayors and municipal staff. Reyes Rodríguez emphasized the importance of responsible management, citing President Claudia Sheinbaum’s request that the resources directly benefit the most disadvantaged populations. He noted that municipalities such as San Fernando and El Mante have already been allocated significant amounts. The program will complement other social initiatives, including benefits for seniors and women's welfare, that continue to be implemented across the state.
